Addiction Counseling for Adults
Adults meet one-on-one with a therapist, in person at our Jacksonville office or by Zoom or phone. Michael McGuire, M.A., is a licensed addictions and trauma therapist who brings both professional training and his own experience in recovery to his work.
Together we look at what's driving the use, whether it's stress, trauma, anxiety, depression or old patterns, and build a plan you can live with. If you need a higher level of care first, such as detox, we'll make the right referral.
Ascend: Substance Use Program for Teens
Ascend is our 12-week program for teens whose main struggle is substance use. It includes:
- One 2-hour group every Friday, 6–8 pm (small, closed groups)
- One individual therapy session a week
- Family sessions, usually twice a month
- Drug testing once a week
- On-demand support from your therapist by Zoom, FaceTime or phone when conflicts come up at home
Teens whose main struggle is anxiety, depression or another mental health condition join our Aspire program instead.
Treating What's Underneath: Trauma and Dual Diagnosis
Behind many cases of drug and alcohol dependence is some form of trauma. We use trauma-informed care, EMDR and NARM to help clients process what happened and change the patterns that keep them stuck. Many clients also live with anxiety, depression or another mental health condition. We treat both together and work with local psychiatrists when medication may help.
Before or After Residential Treatment
Residential treatment is a great start, but the real-world challenges come when someone returns home. We can serve as primary care or aftercare. When a higher level of care is needed, we draw on a network of vetted programs and can act as liaison and outside case manager through the process.
Support for Families
You didn't cause this, you can't control it, and you are not the cure. Family sessions help you set boundaries and consequences that stick, and we're happy to be the “bad guy” when hard decisions are made, so you can get back to being family.
Cost and Insurance
We're not in-network with any insurance and don't bill out of network. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, we can give you documentation to submit for reimbursement, and we offer payment plans in some cases. The Ascend program is self-pay, and we keep it affordable.
