The Aspire program is one of the specialized programs which we offer here at McGuire Recovery. It involves the use of individualized, one-on-one sessions coupled with group therapy to help teens work through issues related to a primary mental health diagnosis rather than teen drinking and drug use issues.
The program consists of the following:
When a teen or young adult is suffering from mental illness whether mild or severe, it can be a very lonely journey for the patient and their families. Being a teenager is already hard enough but to have a mental health diagnosis at an early age can make matters worse.
We wanted to start this group to support families in crisis with a teenager who isn’t necessarily using drugs or alcohol to cope but are having these experiences not easily understood by most.
Our group size is small and intimate but we find it helpful for these kids to have a peer group that understands them and helps them grow in their coping skills such as emotional regulation, self-acceptance, grounding techniques, breathing techniques, and more.
For chronically ill clients, our program simply helps to keep them from being involuntarily admitted to our local Baker Act receiving facilities.
*All groups are closed to the public and require enrollment.
The Aspire program is designed for teens who struggle with a mental health disorder. It is made to assist them in working through the issues that come with their disorder and to help them recover from its effects.
