We’re Here to Help Teens, Young Adults & Families Heal and Thrive

Every experience we’ve had — personally and professionally — has led us to this work. We believe we were meant to stand with teens, young adults, and families in some of their toughest moments, helping them navigate mental health challenges and substance use with compassion, hope, and proven therapeutic care.

We met in 2018 while working at Gateway Community Services in Jacksonville, Florida. What started as shared passion quickly became shared purpose — and, eventually, a shared life. When we combined our practices, we realized something important: adolescents and young adults desperately needed more specialized support. They are often overlooked, misunderstood, or expected to “get it together” on their own. We made it our mission to change that.

Our Approach to Healing

We specialize in trauma resolution using EMDR and the NARM model — two therapeutic approaches that help people move beyond old wounds and find genuine freedom. Watching clients break destructive patterns, reconnect with themselves, and rebuild their futures continues to inspire us every single day.

The stories of transformation we witness are what keep us going. We’ve seen:

  • Young people reclaim their lives and build healthier paths
  • Families rediscover connection and trust after years of strain
  • Teens hold onto academic dreams and earn back opportunities they feared were gone
  • Parents feel relief knowing their child is finally supported and understood

This isn’t just clinical work to us — it’s heart work.

Professional Development

Our clinicians don’t just do this work — they keep growing in it every day. The development of our team ensures you receive care that’s fresh, insightful, and ready for real-life change.

Each client receives individualized attention and creates therapeutic goals unique to their journey. Our clinicians hold advanced credentials and engage in ongoing training so one-on-one sessions aren’t just meaningful—they’re expertly guided with purpose, collaboration, and deep respect for your story.

This twelve-week teen-focused program combines individual therapy, weekly group sessions, family support, drug testing, and on-demand therapist access. Designed for young people navigating addiction and related mental-health concerns, Ascend provides structure, peer connection, and flexibility so families can heal together in real time.

For adolescents grappling with mood disorders, anxiety, or other mental-health challenges (not primarily substance use), Aspire offers a safe group environment alongside individualized therapy, medication monitoring, family sessions, and remote therapist support. Small group size and focused education create space for teens to find identity, regulation, and resilience.

At McGuire Recovery, professional development is more than a credential—it’s a commitment. Our team stays deeply engaged in current trauma-informed therapies, adolescent and family systems work, and diverse and inclusive approaches. The outcome? You receive care guided by expertise, compassion, and an unwavering belief in your potential.

Our Expertise

  • A person sitting with their head tucked into their knees on a wooden dock by calm water at sunset.

Depression

When the world feels heavy and motivation disappears, you don’t have to push through alone. We help you reconnect with the things that once brought you energy and joy, one small step at a time.

  • A person in a red t-shirt stands against a grey wall with their hand over their face in a gesture of frustration.

Anxiety Disorders

If worry is taking over your days — or your nights — we’ll work together to calm the constant “what ifs.” We focus on helping you feel safer, more grounded, and more in control of your thoughts and reactions.

  • A person with a backpack stands inside a sunlit doorway, looking toward the exterior.

Life Transitions

Change can be exciting… and also overwhelming. Whether you’re starting something new or letting go of what once felt stable, we help you make sense of the shift and build confidence in the next chapter.

  • A close-up view of a hand holding a lit, hand-rolled cigarette, with a small house-shaped tattoo on a finger.

Substance Abuse

Recovery is not about perfection — it’s about support, understanding, and progress. We meet you exactly where you are, without judgment, and help you build a healthier relationship with yourself as you move forward.

  • A person with a beard in a black hoodie sits in a chair, pointing and looking upset with a clenched jaw.

Anger

Anger often shows up when something deeper needs attention. We help you explore what’s underneath — frustration, fear, or pain — and find kinder, more effective ways to express yourself.

  • Two pairs of hands, one weathered and one smoother, resting together on a textured placemat over a dark table.

Codependency

Taking care of others shouldn’t mean losing yourself. Together, we strengthen boundaries, rebuild self-worth, and help you feel more balanced in your relationships.

Trauma / PTSD

Trauma can leave you feeling stuck in survival mode. We offer gentle, trauma-informed care to help you feel safe in your own body and rewrite the story from one of harm to one of healing.

  • A person in a striped shirt comforts a distressed person who is leaning their head against them.

Sexual Orientation

Exploring your identity should feel freeing — not frightening. We provide an affirming space to discover who you are, who you love, and what authenticity looks like for you.

  • A person in a yellow top smiles at their reflection in an ornate, vintage-style floor mirror.

Self-Esteem

You deserve to feel at home with yourself. We help you challenge self-doubt, celebrate strengths, and build a more compassionate inner voice.

  • White flowers wrapped in black ribbon, resting beside a dark, rectangular object and a rosary on a black surface.

Grief & Loss

Grief isn’t something to “get over.” It’s something we learn to live with. We walk alongside you as you honor what you’ve lost and rediscover connection, meaning, and hope.

Bipolar Disorder

Managing mood swings can feel like a constant battle. We help you understand your symptoms, build stability, and create a support system that works in real life — not just on paper.

  • Two people sit against a white wall, draping a pride flag over their laps. They look toward the camera.

Gender Identity

Your identity is yours to define. We offer a supportive, judgment-free space to explore gender, navigate transitions if desired, and feel truly seen and understood.
